UPDATES ON SPAIN: AUGUST 2010 (JACK DE GROOT)
MALAGA, GRANADA, CORDOBA, PALENCIA, FROMISTA, CASTROJERIZ,
VITORIA, BILBAO.
* I arrived at Malaga Airport and needed to go to the bus terminal fast to catch the last bus of that day
to Granada. Although there are trains from the airport to the centre of Málaga, I did not want to take any risks.
The taxi driver took me to the bus terminal in 12 minutes and charged me the correct fee: €15=.

* In Granada I stayed here, in a residence on the Paseo de los Tristes. The rooms overlook the Alhambra Palace.
Did anyone else stay here? MORE PICTURES OF GRANADA ON: ELALBAYZIN.BLOGSPOT.COM
* In Castrojeriz (on the "Camino de Santiago" between Burgos and Sahagún) I stayed at Hostal "El Mesón" (very good). I climbed the hill to visit
the castle. From the bell tower of the San Juan church at the end of the main street a path will lead you up to the castle in approx. 15 minutes.
(The path is not steep at all). You may enter the ruins of the castle and enjoy magnificent views across Castile.

* The town centre of Córoba is covered with cloths because of the summer heat.
* The Mezquita of Córdoba, always beautiful.
* Quite a few pilgrims walk to SDC, but not on the meseta. I met about 50 per day, plus quite a few cyclists.
Spain is cheap though. The hotels are not full at all and give discounts of up to 70%.
* Of course I visited the Huerta de San Vicente, Lorca's residence in Granada.
Tours normally cost €3= but are free on Wednesdays. They are held in the morning.
* I also visited the statue of don Luis de Góngora y Argote in Córdoba. The old master will not be forgotten.
